It is finally happening!  We are taking Jordan to Paris!!

Here we go!!!  Making a bucket list dream a reality, and we need your help!  So many of you have expressed interest in wanting to be a part of this magical adventure so we have created this page with some fun ways you could join us in making this dream a reality!!

A bit of a recap of Jordan's story; Jordan has a life limiting condition called GAN, Giant Axonal Neuropathy. This condition affects her entire nervous system and takes away function as she ages.  So far it has taken away her ability to walk, has impacted her lungs, eyes, brain, fine motor skills, and that is just to name the things we can see.  Her condition will continue to progress taking away every function as it does, and hence our race against time!  It has been Jordans dream since as long as we can remember to visit the Eiffel tower, this dream over time has turned into a family goal.  It helps get us through the difficult times, we talk, dream and research all the things we will see and do in Europe, it gives us a much needed distraction and something to look forward to.

Jordan is such a ray of sunshine and brings light and joy to everything she does in spite of the hardships she endures and it is time to return her some pure joy and make this dream a reality.

As we have been doing all the research for our upcoming Europe trip,  it is very clear this will be a pricey trip.  While Europe does have lots of discounted admissions and fares to offer to the disabled guest,  there are additional costs to traveling with a wheelchair.

Here is a great example, Eurostar (the train between London and Paris) offers 2 seats at a discounted rate, one for the wheelchair and one for the care giver, these available seats are in premium and business class. So in order for us to sit as a family, we need to upgrade the other 3 seats, and yes we could just split up, but why, would you accept that as a “typical” family?!

Just think: In order to pay the same rate as all the other people on the train you  will need to separate your family, you won’t be able to sit together?? Oh and I should add, in one of the busiest train stations in the world.

Another challenge we face is hotels, there is rarely a room that accommodates a family and is accessible. So we pay more for a suite or for two rooms.

What about transport around the city?? Use an underground rail system?? No, we can’t rely on it, often elevators are out and there is no alternative once you get off the train, we have been stuck in DC at a stop and had to get back on a train, go to another stop so we could get above ground to then take an Uber to our destination. So we pay more for reliable transport, and a wheelchair Uber comes at a premium.

I share these things because it is our reality, things that other may not think about, it WON'T stop us but it does add to the cost and the planning.

Okay so back to the fun!!  We brainstormed and came up with some fun ways you could help us make this dream a reality. Each image represents a way to help.

We are truly grateful for the support that has poured out to help us get Jordan to Paris.   This will truly be a magical trip!
